ABOUT ISIDORA

Isidora Gómez

Industrial Civil Engineer - Chilean Artist

My work stems from the need to create objects that contain meaning, time, and presence, and that generate a bridge to the essential: to the origin, to that universal energy—that invisible pulse—that gives shape and meaning to all living things.

I work primarily with wood, a noble and organic material that holds memory, texture, and rhythm. Each piece is built layer by layer, like a patient and conscious gesture, where form slowly emerges and emptiness acquires as much value as matter.

The layering technique arises from the need to merge contemporary technology—such as laser cutting—with the manual labor of traditional woodworking. This intersection of technological precision and artisanal craftsmanship allows me to explore new forms of creation, keeping alive the making by hand, the time involved in the process, and the human touch in each piece.

I am interested in inhabiting that balance between structure and fluidity, between the geometric and the organic, between the visible and the intuitive. My work engages in dialogue with the land, with the landscapes of Chile, with the force of the elements, and with the intimate experience of inhabiting a body and a home.

I don't see art merely as a decorative object, but as a presence that accompanies, transforms space, and creates a silent connection with the observer. I deeply believe in the creative process as an experience of encounter: with matter, with time, and with oneself.

Art is my way of inhabiting the world, of narrating what cannot always be said with words, and of creating bonds that last over time.
